South Lakes men picked up just their third victory of the season in Division Two North of the North West League by thrashing bottom team Formby 4th XI 5-1 at Ulverston Leisure Centre.

Lee Storey and David Bishop-Miller both scored from penalty corners for Lakes, while David Mawdsley, Daniel Davey and Anthony Salisbury all struck from free play to complete the route, with Alan Dalley scoring Formby's consolation.

The result moves Lakes to four points of third-from-bottom Formby 3rd XI ahead of their away match at Horwich, who are only two places above them themselves.

South Lakes ladies went into their home match against University of Liverpool 2nd XI as favourites, but even so the scoreline was extraordinary as the hosts ran out 11-4 winners.

It was a third victory in a row for Lakes, who are starting to turn their season around, as they are now up to fifth in Division Three North West of the North League as a result.

A late equaliser denied Windermere men's 1st XI all three points against Cumbria rivals Keswick, who escaped with a 2-2 draw in Division Two West of the North League.

Mere took an early lead when Will Dolman scored with an open stick strike from the edge of the D and the home side was the stronger throughout the rest of the first-half.

When Josh Bellis doubled their lead after the break, with another raking shot, a Keswick comeback seemed unlikely.

However, a penalty stroke sparked visitors into life and only a fabulous quadruple save by goalkeeper Rob Curme denied them an equaliser before his defence was undone by a scrappy goal close to full time.

Lancashire Central League Premier Division leaders Pendle Forest 2nd XI proved to be too strong as they defeated a depleted Windermere ladies' 1st XI 4-2.

Raine Wickens scored in open play from a pass by Sarah Hartley and skipper Abbey Carroll scored a second goal in the last minute of the game from a penalty corner, but the experienced Pendle squad had by then bagged four goals of their own.

Mere's men's 2nd XI produced an excellent performance in their 3-0 win over Keswick 3rd XI in Division Four North North of the North West League, with their goals coming from Steve Heyns (2) and Tom Wright.
