Barrow’s Liam Livingstone struck his best score yet in the Big Bash League, as Perth Scorchers thrashed Sydney Thunder by eight wickets at the Optus Stadium.

Livingstone smashed a brilliant 78 off 49 balls, which included six fours and four sixes, to help the Scorchers easily chase down the Thunder’s 153-5 with four-and-a-half overs to spare.

The visitors batted first after winning the toss and their innings was held together by England one-day opener Alex Hales, who hammered 85 off 59 balls.

Livingstone then piled on an opening stand of 135 with Josh Inglish, who made 58, with the Barrovian only falling when he launched Chris Morris to Alex Ross at deep midwicket with his side just three runs from victory.
