Furness picked up just their fourth win of the season in Cumbria Division One with a 29-25 victory at Egremont, as Will Mallinson's two tries in the second half proved decisive.
Dave Finlayson gave the visitors the lead with a penalty from 30 metres before James Howden ran in from a similar distance for the first try of the game, which went unconverted.
A penalty then gave Egremont their first points of the game, but Furness extended their lead to 15-3 when Jonny Hutton went over before the hosts reduced the gap down to five points with a converted try while Dan Scott was in the sin bin.
Furness began the second half like they'd started the first and were over again when No.8 Mallinson went over from a short distance with Finlayson converting.
Egremont hit back again with a couple of quick tries to bring the game back into the balance at 22-20 before Mallinson finally made the result safe by claiming his second and reward a spell of concerted pressure.
The home side scored their fourth try late on to bag a couple of bonus points, but it did not stop Furness from pushing themselves up to 12th in the table.
They leapfrogged Windermere in the process, following their 37-10 defeat at home to Workington at Dawes Meadow.
Workington pushed themselves further clear of Millom, whose mid-season slump continued with a 62-5 loss at home to Wigton.
