Barrow AFC have virtually a fully-fit squad to choose from for tomorrow’s home game against Bromley, with the exception of club captain Josh Granite following his latest injury setback.

Granite made his comeback from two months out with a broken collarbone and dislocated shoulder in last week’s FA Trophy replay against Atherton Collieries, which came after he had hurt his knee in training.

The 27-year-old centre-back soldiered on during the game, but the pain eventually forced him off during the second half and caused him to miss last Saturday’s 7-0 hammering of FC United.

Manager Ian Evatt: “We’re not expecting Josh to be out for long. We think about another week or two before his knee settles down and he’ll be back training with us.

“He played with the injury against Atherton, but that’s Josh, he wants to play through the pain barrier and sometimes that’s not beneficial to him or the team.

“It’s a great attribute and a great part of his character, but he has to understand that he has to have longevity in football and you have look after your injuries when you get them.

“Obviously, we’ve had to pull him out and he’s chomping at the bit to get back in, but he won’t be allowed until the physios and the S&C guys say to me that he’s 100 per cent ready to go.”

The Bluebirds will be up against a Bromley side that is a bit different to the one they faced back in October and Evatt is surprised in the rush in the amount of transfers there have been in the National League this month.

He said: “Everyone apart from ourselves and Chorley have signed a player in January and I’ve said before that it just confuses me because we’re not governed by a transfer window and I don’t understand why we feel the need to do business in January.

“It’s not like it’s halfway into the season - we are well over halfway now. I’m happy with what I have and we have a settled team, purely because the team is playing well, it’s that simple.”
