Just over three months ago, Bromley were the team to be shot at in the National League after an unbeaten start that lasted 13 matches led to them topping the division in its early stages.

It’s the two teams that knocked them back to earth, Yeovil Town and Barrow AFC, who have been setting the pace since with the Bluebirds three points clear at the summit with two games in hand ahead of tomorrow’s televised visit of the Ravens.

Neil Smith’s side are now fourth and know that defeat at Holker Street would seriously damage their automatic promotion hopes as it would open up an eight-point gap between them and AFC.

The Ravens will be without the services of the suspended Chris Bush, whose long throws pose an attacking threat, while there have been a few personnel changes at the South London club since their last game, two weeks ago.

It’s been two in, two out at Hayes Lane, with Michael Chambers signing from Wrexham and Corey Whitely coming in on loan from Newport County, while Reeco Hackett-Fairchild has left for Portsmouth and Adam Mekki has been loaned out to Ebbsfleet.

Smith will be hoping these changes can help Bromley rediscover their early-season form and put behind them a run of three defeats in five games that has left them with ground to make up in the race for a Football League place.

Their most recent game saw them edged out 2-1 at play-off chasers Notts County, when Connell Rawlinson’s goal earned the Magpies the three points after Michael Cheek had cancelled out Wes Thomas’ opener.

Cheek is Bromley’s top scorer by a fair distance and his strike at Meadow at Meadow Lane made it 15 goals for the season, seven ahead of the now departed Hackett-Fairchild.

Given AFC’s stunning form over the last two weekend’s the Ravens would possibly take a repeat of the 1-1 draw from their last trip to Holker Street in February 2019, when JJ Hooper equalised Dior Angus’ first goal for the hosts.
