Barrow AFC have been handed yet another boost after it was confirmed loanees Tom White and Matt Platt would be remaining with the club until the end of the season.

Both players are being borrowed from Championship side Blackburn Rovers, with White’s initial loan from them being due to expire this week.

The 22-year-old midfielder recently scored his first goal with the Bluebirds, when he opened the floodgates in the 7-0 thrashing of Ebbsfleet United.

Platt has been a tower of strength at centre back since his arrival in September, with AFC only losing twice in the league since during their rise to the top of the table.

Meanwhile, Barrow have been drawn away to either Farsley Celtic or Barnet in the third round of the FA Trophy on Saturday, February 8.

The Bluebirds have reached this stage of the competition, which they won in 1990 and 2010, for the first time in three seasons after hammering FC United of Manchester 7-0 in round two last Saturday.

Farsley, who play in National League North, drew 1-1 with Barnet last weekend, with the replay between the two teams taking place at The Hive tonight.

Should Barnet get through, the Bluebirds’ league fixture against them at The Hive on February 29 will have to be rescheduled, as the fourth round ties will be taking place that day.
