Barrow Friday League snooker leaders British Legion A kept their two-point lead at the top of the table by taking all of their games away to the Navy Club.

Captain John Tyerman took the first game by beating Joe O’Leary 43-21, while in the clash of the Simpsons, Legion’s Dave Simpson took the second point with a 61-22 result against his namesake Dave Simpson from the Navy Club and Billy Burns made it three in a row with a one sided 53-8 result against Dave Wilkie.

Second-placed British Legion took all three games on their home table against the Barrow Football Supporters Club.

In the first game, Ray Gardner very confidently had Jimmy Christie on the ropes in winning 47-14. The second brought the two top men together and Legion’s Captain Mike Smith, with the help of a 29 break, took the game 68-42 against Tony Mason. Allan Edmondson, playing two table games, was on top form with early 21 and 28 breaks giving his opponent Steve Redpath no chance to shine as he won 73-9.

Vickerstown Cricket Club had a good night in their 2-1 away win against Roose Cons. Lee Jefferson took a black ball game against Dave Kewley 44-42 and Stuart Benson won well against Nick Wilkes with a 63-18 scoreline. Lee Majors taking the only home point with a 45-29 win over Josh Francis.

League leaders British Legion Club taking two home points against the Barrow Football Supporters Club. The first frame saw Alf Carruthers beat Denis Plant 100-77. Harry Bateman snatched an excellent victory 100-92 against Edmondson before Kevin Quinn finished the night off with a 100-77 win over Jimmy Wilson.

At the Navy Club, the home team came off best with a 2-1 result against the British Legion A. Geoff Turner took the top man’s game with consistent potting to comfortably win 100-12 and he was backed up well by Paul Kyle winning 100-46 against Steve Hetherington. Tony Macmillan spoiled the rout by winning by the closest of margins 100-99 against Navy’s captain John Clamp.

Vickerstown CC took two good away points against the Roose Cons Club. Peter Scott’s 21 break making the difference in a close game against Rob Chissim and Jimmy Allen won comfortably against Mike Irving by 100 points to 40. The game between the two captains Peter Roberts and David Holmes saw the latter win 100-84.
