Matty Lamb picked up a morale-boosting 6-0 win over Jack Arnold in the latest round of the Barrow Individual Snooker League, having initially drawn 3-3 against the same opponent in what was a scrappy encounter.

John Tyerman was too strong for Anthony Atkinson, with him recording a break of 54 and a couple more in the 30s to bag a 5-1 win.

Atkinson showed his fighting qualities in the return match, with some good potting helping him to a 43 break in a 3-3 draw.

Mike Smith took a back-and-forth encounter 4-2 against John Reilly, who needed a win to maintain his top four hopes in Group B. Smith made a 30 break before Reilly replied with a superb 43, only for his opponent to take the last two frames. The two shared the spoils in the return game.

Last year’s runner-up Danny Macdonald found some form in defeating Dale McLean 4-2. The match started with McLean’s 45 break being replied by Macdonald’s 49, but the former took the opening frame on the colours.

McLean went into a 2-0 lead before Macdonald hit his flow with two 40-plus breaks and a 55 to take the points. McLean then came back from 3-0 down to draw the return.

Tom Millington was in dominant form against Brad Elliot, recording comfortable 6-0 and 5-1 victories.

Jordan Park claimed a deserved 3-3 draw against high-flying Tommy Barbour, who then hit back with a 4-2 victory in the return to help his chances of reaching the quarter finals.

n The league have announced plans for their finals night, which will be taking place at the Soccer Bar from 7pm and will be raising money for Darren Leith, who has Locked In Syndrome, via a raffle and a collection.
