Holker Old Boys

After finishing last season one place above relegation on 31 points Holker have found life in the North West Counties League a lot happier this term.

They currently sit eighth in the table, within striking distance of the play-off places and have amassed 25 points already. The management team of Kev Watkin, Paul Southward and Glyn Dixon can boast a youthful squad which stands them in good shape for the future.

Tom Dawson and Sam Joel have been finding the back of the net regularly for and Holker hope to continue their form in the second half of the season.

Vickerstown

The West Lancashire Premier Division has been an unforgiving place for Vickerstown so far Dave Round’s men are firmly entrenched in a relegation dogfight with anyone of the bottom eight sides looking over their shoulders.

Vickerstown have been stifled by work commitments mainly down to shift patterns which has meant the side has struggled for consistency.

Millom

Millom are currently third in the West Lancs Division One and with a couple of games in hand on the teams above them, promotion is a definite possibility.

Jamie Pattinson has been in excellent goalscoring form and with one of the meanest defences in the league, Millom are proving one of the strongest sides in a tough division.

Askam United

Askam are only one place and two points behind Millom and are another side enjoying life this term. Manager Toby O’Reilly has got Duddon Road bouncing again.

Jordan Rayner has found the net easy to find and his form will be vital to them in the second half of the season.

Hawcoat Park

Trev Houston’s side are firmly set in mid-table and have brought through some exciting young prospects through the ranks which stands the club in good stead for the future.

Hakan McCracken leads the way in Hawcoat’s goal scoring charts and his goals along with keeping a settled side will be key to how their form goes after Christmas, a time of year that Hawcoat have notoriously struggled with. Jamie Hodgson recently stepped up from the club and starred for Barrow AFC against Atherton Collieries.

Ulverston Rangers

Ulverston find themselves just below mid table and hope the second half of their campaign will bring some positive results. They lost Andy Whiteford due to work commitments and his enthusiasm and quality would leave a dent in any team.

Crooklands Casuals

New first team manager Mark McAloone has found the going tough this term. His charges have won only three of their first 16 games and sit in the relegation places on goal difference. A run of results would see them climb to safety.

Walney Island

After serving a long apprenticeship in the West Lancs Second Division, Walney are now the pacesetters. They sit top of the table and boast the league’s top scorer James Bailey, who has been lethal so far.

Walney have a young squad but they do have plenty of experience, although joint managers Steve McCullough and Craig Savage won’t be getting carried away just yet and will be driving the lads away from complacency.

Furness Rovers

Rovers got off to a flying start to the season, but have stuttered recently and suffered some mixed results. A change in management with Josh Jones will give a fresh outlook. He has been joined in the dugout by Walter Bowes, who knows the club inside out. They will be looking to the likes of Joe Tindale to bring back their early season form.

Dalton United

Dalton have had results which hasn’t matched their performances, but they will have to tighten their defence as they are currently conceding an average of nearly three goals a game. With Gareth Jones, Scott McDonald and Robbie McMurdo, they will always be a threat going forward.

Furness Cavaliers

Cavs are another side that have produced good performances, but not always the rewards to show for it. Like Dalton, they have also been giving too many goals away, an area they will look to build on after Christmas.
