Liam Conroy's fight against Andre Sterling is the second of four quarter finals in the light heavyweight Golden Contract tournament that will be taking place at the Brentwood Centre tonight.

Also involved are two fighters from overseas and a familiar opponent to the Barrovian in former sparring partner Steven Ward. The Northern Irishman came out on top by one point after an epic battle with Conroy for the WBO European Championship at Belfast's Ulster Hall in June.

That extended his undefeated record to 12 professional bouts and he is stepping into the ring for the first time since that 'Match of the Year' candidate to face Latvia's Ricards Bolotniks, who had won 15 of his 21 bouts as a pro.

Bolotniks last faced an opponent from Great Britain in July 2014, when he was knocked out in the fourth round by Andreas Evangelou.

The first quarter final to take place brings together Edinburgh's Tommy Philbin (undefeated in 13 fights) and Germany's Serge Michel.

The main event on the card will be between two of the most experienced fighters in the tournament in former Commonwealth champion Bob Ajisafe, who hails from Leeds and Manchester's Hosea Burton.

Before Conroy's fight takes place there will be a contest for a title he used to hold, with Dan Azeez clashing with Lawrence Osueke for the vacant English Light Heavyweight Championship.
