Barrow AFC manager Ian Evatt believes the club being shown on television more often is a sign of them being given more recognition for their achievements.

Despite taking his team to the top of the National League, Evatt feels the Bluebirds have gone under the radar in doing so, with other clubs, such as fellow promotion challengers Yeovil Town and Solihull Moors grabbing most of the attention.

However, that appears to be changing, with AFC's match at Solihull just before Christmas and their home game against Bromley, who are currently three points behind them in second place, on January 18, 2020, live on BT Sport.

Evatt said: "TV games are the ones that people want to watch and us versus Solihull is, at the moment, two teams who are right at the top end of the division, two very good teams.

"Again, us and Bromley are two teams who are in the top three fighting for the division, at it stands.

"You want to see good quality football on TV, some good competitive games and I think those games are going to be very competitive and good to watch."

Evatt will want AFC to put on another good show at home to Aldershot Town this afternoon, as they defend their three-point lead at the top of the table against a team who are four points clear of the relegation zone.

With an FA Trophy tie at Atherton Collieries and a busy Christmas schedule to follow, Barrow are going to need to make full use of their squad in the weeks ahead and Evatt is pleased with the competition for places.

He said: "That's what we want. We want players waiting in the wings to come on and show us what they can do, to catch my eye and show that they're ready to play.

"There are a hell of a lot of games coming up, especially over the Christmas period. It's going to be very busy and we've got the FA Trophy game coming up as well, where a lot of them will be given the opportunity to show what they can do.

"We have a good squad of players and that's why we recruited early in the summer, it's why we spend a lot of time identifying the right players in the right demographic. There's no gambling, in terms of finances, we are meticulous with our recruitment process."
