Barrow AFC enter the second half of their National League campaign against Aldershot Town this afternoon and midfielder Jason Taylor wants them to maintain the focus that has taken them to the top of the table.

Life has rarely been dull for the Bluebirds during the campaign so far, with six defeats in their first nine games before followed by 12 wins in 14 that has propelled them three points clear of second-placed Bromley with a game in hand.

Taylor has won two promotions in his career before - with Stockport County and Northampton Town - and he has urged his younger teammates to not get ahead of themselves with so much football still to be played.

Taylor said: "It's a great position to be in, don't get me wrong, but for me we're at the halfway point of the season and we need to go and replicate what we've just done again then see where we're at.

"Obviously, we have goals we've set ourselves and we would have snapped your hand off to be top of the league at the halfway point.

"It's literally the old saying; take each game as it comes, keep picking up points, take care of your performances because pretty much everything else is irrelevant if you're doing your own jobs.

"We've just got to keep calm, not get arrogant or ahead of ourselves. Let everyone else get excited, we need to stay grounded and keep putting in the performances."
