Last week saw Hawcoat Park playing the wonderful game in the right spirit by lending weakened visitors Carlisle Crusaders several players so the game could go ahead.

It is a different kettle of fish this afternoon as they travel west to take on a vibrant St Benedicts side in Cumbria Division One.

Once again, yet another different side takes to the field with Scott Dobbie, Andy Kent and Paul Woodburn taking the game on from the front row with the engine room filled by John Donnan and Martin Kennedy.

Jack Ostin’s superb debut for the first team last week sees him line up again with Callum Ramsey and Andy Graham in the back row, with Brad Morrow moving to scrum-half.

Hopefully George Smith can play this week at fly-half with Chris Burns and Jack Sutherland outside him in the centres.

A transfer from Furness in Alex Brown makes his debut on one wing, with Col Wright on the other, and Benji Platt at full back. With a strong bench, this could be a great game on paper.

After not travelling to Fylde Vandals last week due to lack of available players at the club, Hawcoat Park A find themselves good to go to take on Blackburn 3rd XV at home.

Once again, there is a change of personnel, but with Peter Jennens at the helm they have a great chance. Col Niven and Ryan Brown take up the mantle of the front row with Lewis Phillips.

Jay Crowe is likely to play from scum-half with backs Danny Scott, James Dunne and Keenan Cotton all looking to get points on the wall. Will Coles can’t travel so stays at home, but Peter Matthews and Gareth Morgan provide support on the bench.

With no game last week, Windermere go fresh into to this week’s encounter on home turf at Dawes Meadow against Egremont.

The visitorts seem to be blowing hot and cold, but they will need to be on top form this afternoon, or Windemere will exploit any opportunities that arise.

Captain Jonny Benson will be hoping to stay in his loose forward role and he will be backed up by fellow back rowers Paul Mahler and Gregg Meschino.

Dan Harrison will be hopeful of a start but Jamie Hardman, Luke Todd and Tyrone Alderson may have something to say about that.

Fingers are crossed that Phil Murphy will be available to join either Brad Askan or Josh Dawson in the second row.

Liam Mckinnon and Bertie Hodgeson are the half backs with possibly Damien Armstrong and Moses Dawson in the centres. It is still going to be a tough game but Mere, who have won their least two games, could take this one.
