Black Combe Runners ran two teams at the British Fell and Hill relays from the Peak District in Derbyshire and their open men’s team did very well to finish 28th overall out of the 224 finishing participants.

Josh Hartley, Josh Murphy, John Evason, John Millen,Tim Ripper and Harry Scott performed superbly against other big name clubs who finished after them, with a fine time of 4hrs 28mins 25secs.

Meanwhile, a mixed BCR team (any age and combination) also ran well and finished in eighth position in their particular category, clocking a time of 5:17.00 and featuring Sue Ross, Matthew Allen, Anna Lupton, Gavin Henry, Jess Lawrence and Steve Wathall.

The overall winners were Pudsey and Bramley AC men’s open, who got their six runners around the four-leg course in a speedy 3:40:33, while the best placed all-ladies team went to Helm Hill Runners, who came in just over 63 minutes later.

The winning mixed team was hosts Dark Peak AC, who clocked a remarkable 4:29.01, some 22 minutes ahead of runners-up Helm Hill Runners.

Karl Fursey was the sole BCR to take part in the Langdale Marathon, which included 3,400ft of road hill ascent and descent, and returned to the Sticklebarn Tavern finish field in 5:39.32. The winning times were 3:11.42 from Sean Warburton of Hyde Striders in Greater Manchester and Nicola Shaw (unattached) at 3:49.20.
