Sidelined Barrow AFC club captain Josh Granite is confident his teammates can continue their excellent run of form during what will be a crucial run-up to the Christmas period.

The Bluebirds' two-week break from action will come to an end on Saturday with their match against fellow play-off chasers Notts County at Meadow Lane, with them having won nine of their last ten National League fixtures.

Granite, unfortunately, will likely have to watch on for the stands until the New Year after dislocating a shoulder and fracturing a collarbone in AFC's most recent game, against Sutton United.

Granite said: "I'm very confident that the team can continue the run they're on, with the way that things have been going.

"We need to get through the Christmas period, which again is a tough period, with a lot of games in quite a short time.

"We'll look again in the table in the New Year and see where we're up to. There's no reason we can't go on another winning streak now and put five or six wins together, on the bounce."

On what is set to be a lengthy absence, having just got back in the team, Granite added: "It is massively frustrating for me to have a spell on the sidelines now.

"It's going to be a while until I'm back training and playing, so I'll be doing my bit around the squad to keep pushing all the lads forward and to help keep morale high."
