Furness Raiders fell to their first defeat of the season on Wednesday evening, as a strong Hull FC Academy side beat them 20-12 in what was a close contest.
The young Raiders had had things all their own way prior to their long trip to Humberside, but they knew that they were facing a step up in opposition, who were fielding a number of academy players from Hull FC.
Despite the result not going their way, the visitors produced a strong performance at Bishop Burton College, which brought two tries for Dylan Sykes, both of which were converted by Ethan Bickerdike.
It is a busy week for Furness’ players, with several of them set to be in action again tomorrow for Cumbria under-19’s Three Counties Championship match against Yorkshire at Millom.
The Raiders’ next fixture brings a return to Craven Park on Wednesday, November 20 when they welcome Huddersfield Giants Academy.
