Dalton under-13s produced a stunning performance in the new South Lakes Cup competition last Sunday, as they hammered South Lakes Girls League leaders Wattsfield Youth 6-0 at Cavendish Park.

On a day where Dalton unveiled their new winter jackets, thanks to a combination of sponsors, they produced their best performance of the season so far by blowing away their visitors.

Both teams went at it from the kick-off with some great football being played and both sides battling hard for the full 60 minutes.

Dalton defended well and limited the opposition to one shot, which brought out a wonderful diving save from Izzy Farish.

At the other end, Dalton took most of their chances with Libby Bickle bagging a hat-trick, Chloe Evans scoring twice and Honor Frith adding to the scoreline from a free kick, as Dalton earned a place in the next round thanks to a great team performance.

Ulverston Rangers joined them without having to kick a ball as they were awarded a home walkover after Wattsfield United couldn't raise a team.

Barrow Celtic, who are second in the table, fell at the first hurdle, however, as they were surprisingly defeated 3-1 at struggling Lancaster Giants, while the other tie saw Morecambe hammer Kendal United 5-0 on their own patch.

There was one league fixture on the day, and Kendal United under-12s edged a seven-goal thriller, with Abbie Ireland scoring twice and Eleanor Brench and Torri Wilson scoring their other goals.

In the under-15 South Lakes Cup, Dalton under-14s produced an impressive 3-1 victory to defeat Kendal United.
