Heavy downpours for the second successive Friday had groundsmen up early on Saturday morning doing pitch inspections and trying to get as many games on as possible, but the fixture schedule was severely dented once again.

One of the fixtures to survive was Hawcoat Park’s fixture against Eagley in Division One of the West Lancashire League, but the home side went down to a 3-2 defeat against their relegation-threatened visitors.

Frankie Ellis and Mike Melia were the goalscorers for Hawcoat, but strikes by Bailey Wallace, Jacob Greenhalgh and Reece Hardie gave Eagley the points.

Elsewhere in the division, Millom picked up an excellent t3-1 win on the road at Stoneclough, thanks to goals from Jamie Pattinson, Theo Dreghorn and Ben McDonald. The result moves Millom up to fourth and they have games in hand on the teams above them.

Askam United remain third in the table after a 1-1 draw away at Wyre Villa, where Jordan Rayner was their goalscorer.

Crooklands Casuals also picked up a point with a 2-2 home draw against Hesketh Bank. Dave Woodburn levelled matters with 20 minutes remaining only for Hesketh to get themselves back in front, but with time running out, up popped Joe Braund-Smith to find a late equaliser for Cassies.

Premier Division action took place at Park Vale as Vickerstown welcomed Burscough Richmond and with both sides at the wrong end of the table it was an important clash.

Dave Round Jnr’s free kick on the hour mark put the home side 1-0 up after they had been reduced to ten men, but Burscough found two goals in the last ten minutes to steal the points.

Walney Island drew 3-3 at home to Freckleton in Division Two. Matt Lockley (2) and James Bailey put Walney 3-1 up with 90 minutes up on the clock, but two late goals saw the spoils shared. Walney are six points clear at the top of the table but closest challengers Rossendale have three games in hand.

Furness Rovers are third in the table and they drew 2-2 at Chipping, Joe Tindae and Ry Barker their scorers.

Dalton United drew 4-4 at home against Charnock Richard reserves. Dalton were 4-2 down and down to ten men after Joe Fidler was shown two yellow cards, with Gareth Jones and Jon While on target, but Robbie McMurdo scored two goals in the last four minutes to share the points. The game was close to being abandoned after a serious injury to Ste Harkin needed an ambulance.

Haverigg United are under new management and into the next round of the Furness Senior Cup after a 3-1 win over Britannia at Wilson Park.

Daniel Munroe is taking over the reins, but this fixture was overseen by caretakers Stu Jeynes and Ian Tyson. Jon Chmiel marked his return from injury with two goals and Jamie Cairns was also on target. Jordan Wallace replied for the Brit.
