South Lakes ladies' search for a victory in Division Three North West of the North League this season goes on after they went down to a 5-3 home defeat against Lancaster and Morecambe last Saturday.

The Lakes had the chance to leapfrog their opponents in the table if they broke their duck at Ulverston Leisure Centre, but they were eventually edged out in what was an entertaining game.

The visitors ran out winners, with Emily Thompson scoring twice and Danielle Richardson, Emma Atkinson and Kelly Johnson grabbing their other goals.

South Lakes men simply had no answer against rampant leaders Didsbury Northern 4th XI in Division Two North of the North West League, as they were crushed 7-0.

The visitors showed why they have now won all six of their games this season, scoring 30 goals in the process, as they overwhelmed the Lakes, who weren't given a chance to back up their first victory of the campaign at Formby the previous week.

This weekend, the ladies have a tough assignment at leaders Liverpool Sefton 3rd XI, while the men face the side directly above them in Preston 4th XI.

Windermere men 1st XI are off the bottom of Division Two West of the North League after a double by Sam Whitehead allowed them to defeat Lymm 4-1 and record their first win of the campaign.

Sam Whitehead opened the scoring from a short corner before Adam Whitehead doubled the lead when a couple of deflections of Lymm defenders gave him a tap-in.

A stinging shot then gave Sam Whitehead his second goal and although the visitors pulled a goal back, the result was made safe by an assured finished from Will Dolman.

Windermere ladies 1st XI continued their strong start to the season in the Premier Division of the Lancashire Central League with a 3-1 win at home to Southport that moved them up to second in the table.

Mere's midfield dominance was rewarded by strikes from Kitty Brownell and Kitty Carr off short corners by Abbey Carroll.

Sarah Hartley then added a third for the hosts in a more even second half, which included a consolation goal for Southport.

The men's 2nd XI suffered a narrow defeat in Division Four North North of the North West League, as they were edged out 1-0 by Lytham St Annes 2nd XI.
