Barrow Raiders head coach Paul Crarey is interested in seeing how young prop Connor Terrill develops after his eye-catching return from injury.

Millom graduate Terrill broke his foot while playing for St Helens a few months back and while he was recovering, he agreed his first professional contract in signing for the Raiders for the 2020 season.

The 18-year-old made his comeback in playing for Scotland under-19s against the England Community Lions and displayed that he has quickly got himself up to speed by scoring a hat-trick for Furness Raiders against Salford Red Devils Academy last week.

Terrill has his first opportunity to integrate himself with Barrow's first team squad when pre-season training starts in just over two weeks' time.

Crarey said: "He's a big boy who's got a lot to learn - we need to strim him down a little bit, but we'll get that when pre-season starts.

"He's bulked up a little bit - last week was only his second game for a long time because he'd broken his foot and he was virtually unstoppable in that second half.

"He ran hard and brought some skill into it as well, but what Connor wants to do is to learn because he trains really well.

"He officially signs on December 1 so he can play in the county games and he's a great prospect, as are all the kids that have come through the system."

Terrill won't be the only Furness Raiders graduate who will get the chance to show what they can do amongst the senior squad during pre-season, with the likes of Evan Jones and Charlie Emslie set to be invited to join in.

Crarey said: "We're going to invite Evan to train with us this year. I've spoken to Dalton about bringing him in and he's coming along nicely as well.

"We're also speaking to ten amateur lads with a view to bringing them down to train with us and hopefully earn themselves a contract.

"Some will fall by the wayside and some will push on because it's not for some people, but a massive thing we've done over the last five years is to develop our own players to come through.

"We've had Jake Carter, Ryan Johnston, Connor Terrill and Adam Ford, so we're getting one a year and it's great that they know the systems and they've got great attitudes."
