In the West Lancashire League Challenge Cup, holders Walney Island are into the next round after storming to a 6-0 win at Burscough Dynamo on Saturday.

James Bailey (2), Zach Walker, Steve Brennan and man of the match Scott Goulding were among the scorers for the Division Two leaders, who bounced back from losing their unbeaten record for the season against Rossendale the previous week.

Furness Cavaliers join them in the hat for the second round following their 4-2 win down the road at Dalton United.

Scott McDonald and Danny Leech were on target for Dalton but Joe Blackshaw, Macca Woods, Charlie Cooksey and Lee Simpson scored for Cavs to help them progress.

Furness Rovers came from 2-0 down to draw 3-3 with Charnock Richard reserves before winning the penalty shoot-out 5-4.

Ryan Fagan and an own goal pulled Rovers level but it took a Jack Stoker goal in added time to take the game to spot kicks after Danny Knowles had restored Charnock’s lead.
