Bootle will begin their quest to win the Terry Clinton Memorial Trophy for a third year in a row when they welcome Hawcoat Park reserves in the first round tomorrow.

The Millholme outfit have claimed the trophy via a couple of dramatic penalty shoot-outs in recent years and go into the game off the back of a 4-2 win at Barrow Wanderers last weekend.

Hawcoat sit third in the Furness Premier League and recorded an impressive 4-0 victory at champions Croftlands Park to put themselves five points behind Kirkby United.

Speaking of the league leaders, they also have a home tie as Wanderers head to Marsh Side, but they’ll be underdogs against a Kirkby side who have won nine of their 12 league games this season.

It looks like anybody’s game as Croftlands face off against Haverigg United at Cavendish Park, as the two teams are level on 17 points in the table.

The other two ties in that competition on the day see Holker Old Boys reserves face Britannia, while Swarthmoor Social travel to Walney Island reserves.

In what is a big day of cup action for our teams across the area, Holker Old Boys head to Gorton in Greater Manchester to take on Abbey Hey in the first round of the Macron Cup.

Vickerstown, the only local side left in the competition, host their rearranged match against Blackpool Wren Rovers in the Lancashire Amateur Shield.
