Albion striker Neal Maupay has insisted he is willing to adapt for the benefit of the team and head coach Graham Potter.

The 23-year-old has scored three goals so far in his first season in the Premier League, with all of them coming when he was playing up front.

However prior to the international break it was fellow frontman Aaron Connolly who stole the show, with a brace in his first start in the Premier League against Tottenham in a 3-0 win at the Amex.

With Connolly also making an impact on the international scene with the Republic of Ireland, Potter may be forced to either tweak his formation or play Maupay or Connolly in a different role to accommodate them both in his XI.

Maupay insists he is happy to play wherever he is asked by Potter to help the team.

He said: “I have always been playing as a striker so central but I need to adapt for the team and, if for the team I need to play out wide, I will do it without a problem.

“In the Burnley game, I started the game as a nine but we didn’t really play well the first 20 minutes so we changed it, then I went on the wing.

“If you want to help the team, you have got to do what the manager tells you to do and that’s what I’ll do, even if my best position is as a striker.

“But if he wants me to play on the right wing, the left wing, in midfield or anywhere, then you have got to just do your best.”

Glenn Murray, who scored from the penalty spot when Albion last played at Villa Park, is also a contender for playing time in attack.

Albion hope to have Leandro Trossard back soon after his recovery from a groin injury.
