Hawcoat Park’s good run continues in Division One of the West Lancashire League as they beat 3-0 Kendal County last Saturday.

Hakan McCracken (2) and Jamie Hodgson scored in what was Hawcoat’s third straight league win, which lifted them up to ninth in the table.

Crooklands Casuals picked up three points with a 3-2 home win against Wyre Villa. Joe Braund Smith and Robin Oldfield put the hosts 2-0 up but Wyre Villa struck back just after half time to level matters. Ben Stoker was then the Cassie’s hero as he scored the winner with five minutes left on the clock.

Ulverston Rangers drew 2-2 with Milnthorpe Corinthians, with their efforts coming from Zach Milby and an own goal.

In Division Two, the team of the month curse struck for leaders Walney Island as they lost their unbeaten league run by going down 3-2 to an impressive Rossendale, who are now just two points behind in second place.

The game sprung to life when the referee awarded the visitors a penalty after the Walney defender cleared the ball. Rossendale then found themselves two up after a great 20-yard strike.

Walney thought they were back in the game when Pearson headed in only for it to be ruled out for a hotly-debated offside flag.

Walney were then reduced to ten men and were 3-0 down soon after when they failed to clear a corner. Joe Pearson and Matt Lockley scored to reduce the arrears but it was too little too late.

Furness Rovers lost 3-2 at Galgate, but it could have been so much better for them in what was a see-saw contest. Ryan Fagan and Joe Tindale, with strikes either side of half-time, had put Rovers 2-1 up, but they couldn’t hold on to their lead.
