British Legion A still top the snooker table in the Barrow Friday League by three points despite losing a game at home in their 2-1 victory against Roose Cons.

John Tyerman took the top man’s game against Lee Majors 67-27 and he was backed up with a good win for Dave Simpson, who beat Dave Kewley in a black ball finish to win 44-36 as both kept their good run of wins going. Nick Wilkes stopped the whitewash with a 49-23 result against Billy Burns.

Navy Club took two home points against the British Legion, the first game going to Dave Wilkie in a very tight game against Keith Meloy, the black ball being the deciding factor as Wilkie took it to win 47-43.

The second frame’s result went to the away club, as Jack Arnold potted well, including a 24 break, to beat Geoff Turner 55-24 to level the scores. Mike Smith and Ian Goodwin contested the final frame and Goodwin took it 34-26, potting the last two colours in a low-scoring game.

Barrow Football Supporters Club’s Tony Mason was on top form with a 45 break, the highest of the season so far, giving Vickerstown Cricket Club’s Josh Francis no chance to shine in his 65-22 win.

He was backed up well by Adam Cook's 43-18 win over Stuart Benson before Jimmy Allen saved face for the Walney side with a good 66-25 result against Steve Redpath to pull a point back.

Last year’s billiards league winners, the British Legion, got back to winning ways with a 3-0 away win against league leaders the Navy Club, with wins for Allan Edmondson, who beat Geoff Turner by the narrowest of margins 100-99, Alf Carruthers and Kevin Quinn, who sealed the final point with the help of 15 and 18 breaks in a late-night 100-56 win against Paul Kyle.

British legion A kept their good run going with a 3-0 home win against Roose Cons, with their top man beating Roose’s captain Peter Roberts 100-51, Paul Fieldhouse winning comfortably 100-60 over Rob Chissim and Steve Hetherington winning well against Mike Irving to win 100-41.

Barrow Football Supporters Club were on top form in taking all three home points against Vickerstown CC, Harry Bateman taking the top man’s game beating Gareth Willis 100-31 with 21 and 29 breaks.
