Ulverston Rangers will begin their defence of the Furness Senior Cup tomorrow when they host Furness Premier League champions Croftlands Park in the second round.

Rangers claimed the trophy by the narrowest of margins last season when they defeated Walney 2-1 in a penalty shoot-out, following a 1-1 draw at Holker Street in May.

Walney, who are flying in Division Two of the West Lancashire League, will begin their quest to go one better on their travels, as they travel to Hawcoat Park, who ply their trade one division above them.

Swarthmoor Social, another of the FPL sides involved in the competition, will look to cause an upset when they play host to Furness Rovers, while Crooklands Casuals make the tricky journey to Kirkby United.

There are two reserve teams involved, with Vickerstown aiming for a surprise when they travel to Railway Meadow to face Dalton United, who have already had success in cup competitions this season.

The sixth tie to take place over the weekend brings the only all-FPL tie, as Holker Old Boys reserves welcome Barrow Celtic to Swarthmoor Lane.

Holker's first team have the weekend off due to the second round of the PlayerMatch.com Cup, but Vickerstown have the chance to progress in the Richardson Cup, as they travel to Lytham Town in the first round.

There are two matches involving our teams in the West Lancashire League, with Millom set to be full of confidence after their 7-1 thrashing of Crooklands Casuals last week as they welcome Lostock St Gerards in Division One.

In Division Two, Furness Cavaliers will need to bounce back from their 6-1 hammering at Walney Island and they will be the team that are immediately above them in the table in Galgate.

There are two fixtures in the Premier Division of the Furness Premier League taking place and the bottom two teams clash, with Dalton United reserves looking to climb off the bottom of the table when they travel to Walney Island reserves.

Meanwhile, third-placed Hawcoat Park reserves will have the chance to move above Vickerstown and into second behind leaders Kirkby if they defeat Britannia.

In Division One, Ulverston Rangers reserves will have the chance to open up a three-point lead at the top, with Hawcoat Park A not in action, although it won't be an easy task away at Bridge United.

Division Two leaders Coniston will look to continue their good start when they travel to Barrow Celtic reserves.
