British Legion took all three points at home to the Roose Cons in the third round of snooker fixtures in the Barrow Friday League, with all of the games going to the wire.

Ray Gardner took the initial game, but only just as Lee Majors came back from a large deficit, taking all the colours up until the pink. Gardner finally won the frame 54-44 by taking the black.

There was then another black ball finish in the game between Mike Smith and Dave Kewley, who could have taken the game on the blue but missed, allowing Smith to take the game with an excellent long pot on the black.

The last game between Jack Arnold and Rob Chissim was a nip and tuck game all the way through, with Arnold taking the final blue and pink to win 65-41.

British Legion A head the table on eight points with their captain John Tyerman leading the way with a comfortable 75-26 win over Vickerstown Cricket Club’s Josh Francis, including breaks of 22 and 24.

Dave Simpson took the second with a 57-34 win over Lee Jefferson, before Stuart Benson pulled one back for the Cricketers with a good 68-40 win over last year’s aggregate winner, Billy Burns.

At the reversed fixture, Barrow Football Supporters Club shot up the table with an excellent 3-0 away win over the Navy Club.

A good win from Tony Mason against Joe O'Leary took the top man’s game with the help of a 25 break and this was backed up by Adam Cook defeating Andy Charnley 49-23 and Steve Redpath winning with a low-scoring game against Dave Wilkie 35-18.

Last year’s billiards league winners British Legion won 3-0 at home to Roose Cons. Allan Edmondson took the first game of the night with a comfortable 100-39 win against Roose captain Peter Roberts.

Kevin Quinn took the second game with a 100-57 win over Chissim before Alf Carruthers sealed the final point for the home side by beating Mike Irvine 100-45.

Legion ‘A’ having a good 2-1 result on the night on the green baize with an good 2-1 away win at the Vickerstown Cricket Club.

Navy Club took all three points against the Barrow Football Supporters Club and top the table having not dropped a point, with Geoff Turner, Paul Kyle and Jimmy Wilson all securing wins.
