THE visit of fellow strugglers Blackpool Wren Rovers this afternoon offers Vickerstown a great chance to pull away from the wrong end of the West Lancashire Football League Premier Division.

The Fylde based side suffered a 4-0 home reverse at the hands of mid-table Southport Hesketh last week, their seventh league defeat, and though Vickerstown went down by the same scoreline at Turton, they will be keen to make home advantage pay in their efforts to get clear of the drop zone.

It’s derby time in Division One where Millom welcome Crooklands Casuals.

Both sides have had a mixed start to the campaign but Jamie Pattinson’s late leveller for Millom which earned his side a point at Wyre Villa last week has buoyed the hosts, while the Casuals will be keen to shake off the memories of throwing away a two goal advantage to lose 3-2 to visitors Kendal County seven days ago.

High flying Askam United will aim to get back to winning ways after last week’s defeat at Hesketh Bank but they face a tough task as they host table toppers Lostock St Gerards.

There’s another derby in Division Two where table toppers Walney Island host struggling Furness Cavaliers, with the home side hoping to extend their five point lead at the top and their unbeaten start to the campaign against their local rivals.

Third placed Furness Rovers have a chance to shake off the disappointment of last week’s 3-0 home defeat by Burnley United when they travel to second bottom Burscough Dynamo while Dalton United make the journey to Chipping in good heart after last week’s 2-1 home victory over Galgate.
