Danny Morrow is fully confident he can help Barrow Raiders back into the Betfred Championship at the first time of asking next season, now he has signed a new contract with his hometown club.

The second row will begin his fifth season at Craven Park since arriving from amateur club Walney Central next February, which is something not even Morrow himself thought would happen.

Morrow has endured a couple of frustrating years with injuries, but he is full of belief that he and his teammates can put this season's relegation behind them quickly.

He said: "I truly believe this is a temporary blip and we certainly have the capability and desire to respond to this relegation and regain our position back in the Championship.

"For me personally, being a local lad, it's important we give the fans what they pay a healthy fee to see and make them them proud of us as a team.

"That's why it's vital we maintain the core of our squad and make sure we're at the pinnacle of our fitness and performance every week, do the extras and have the most efficient pre-season we can."

Morrow is one of the core players who will remain for the 2020 campaign in League One, with Jamie Dallimore, Stargroth Amean and Wartovo Puara already signed up and others set to follow.

Morrow said: "Obviously, I'd like to thank anybody who had an influence in that decision - Andy Gaffney, Steve Neale and Cresta [head coach Paul Crarey] have all been quite passionate about the local lads.

"They make sure we get plenty of game time and this will be my fifth season in the pro game, which for me personally is quite a commendable milestone."
