Prop Alec Susino has left Barrow Raiders after two seasons to sign for Betfred Championship side Featherstone Rovers.

The Italy international has agreed a one-year deal with the Post Office Road outfit after making 51 appearances during his spell at Craven Park.

The 24-year-old Australian-born front rower scored a try in his final outing for the Raiders, last Sunday’s 24-16 victory against Batley Bulldogs.

That match was also Barrow’s last in the Championship for the time being, as they suffered relegation despite the best efforts of Susino, one of the few players in their squad not to have spent a significant spell out injured.

Susino said: “I’m excited and nervous about joining the Rovers but I’m looking forward to it.

“It will be a new challenge over to Yorkshire though, so it’ll be good. It’s been good playing for Barrow, it gave a me chance to get used to the Championship.

"It’s a bit more physical over here. The fans are very passionate and nobody as an away player likes coming here because of how passionate these fans are.

“And they certainly let you know about it. I’m looking forward to being on the good end of that.”
