Hawcoat Park will be playing their second local derby in two weeks this afternoon when they welcome close friends Millom in the second round of fixtures in Cumbria Division One.

Both teams claimed hard-fought victories last week, with Hawcoat seeing off Barrow rivals Furness 20-14 at the Strawberry Grounds and Millom getting off the mark by edging out Workington 12-7.

The hosts have been forced into making a few changes due to unavailability with Will Coles’ and Brad Morrow’s roles likely to be filled by Andy Kent and the returning Chris Burns.

Scott Dobbie and John Donnan will fill the front row with Corey Doughty likely to be starting from the second row.

Alfie White and Callum Ramsey were immense last week and will lead by example, but with Grady Slater also missing this week, they will be looking for a replacement of real steel.

Jack Shannon’s injury is a blow which might see Lewis Sayle fill in to link up with George Smith and Jason Milby whose strong running will be key.

Benji Platt will be at full back with the wing men to be decided, but likely to be Keenan Cotton and Rodney Odondi.

Millom, whose team blends youth and experience, are looking to be unchanged in the main, with Ian Cummings leading the likes of Joe Thomlinson and Keiren Coulson on to the field.

Player-coach Adam Redhead is more than capable of getting amongst the action but will want his chargers to play with plenty of self-expression taking on the Hawcoat side.

Millom will be powerful in the pack having Steve Watson and Kieran Rogan up front and an action-packed back row with Joe Laydon and Matty Jordan.

Chris Park will be instrumental in the back division, linking up with young Robbie Pattison in the half-back roles and with John Falconer and Trevor Dixon in the three-quarter, Millom look strong going into this one.

It was a bad day at the office for Hawcoat Park A team against Leigh last week, but it is hoped they can turn the corner when they visit Ormskirk.

Once again, they are hit by unavailability but should get a team on the road. Peter Jennens and Martin Kennedy will lead the troops into battle, with the mighty Peter Matthews looking to get o the ball early.

The front row will be in the hands of Ryan Brown as the club stalwart continues to take on all comers. Rob Harvey is back in the fold and chomping at the bit for a run-out alongside Jay Crowe and Scott Garnett. While it will be tough on the road, this is a game Park are more than capable of achieving a result.
