Wilson Park is where it's all happening, as Millom RUFC open their season in Cumbria Division One with a home fixture against Workington from up the coast this afternoon.

Millom will be looking to continue their development from last year and look to cause a few upsets along the way.

There is a great mixture of youth and experience in the side with the likes of Steve Watson, Ian Cummings, Joe Layden and Kieren Rogan on hand to bring on the younger end of the side in the forwards.

This week sees player-coach Adam Redhead pull on a jersey which is a lift for the side as is seeing Kieren Coulson and Joe Thomlinson back alongside each other.

Regulars from last season Chris Park and Robbie Pattinson look favourite to link up in the half-backs with a few new names in Rich Burrows, Connor Penrith, Richard Preston and Todd Birkett all looking to try their hand at rugby union.

Meanwhile, the Ambers of Windermere take on Silloth in their opening clash this coming weekend at Dawes Meadow.

Like most other teams at the moment, there is likely to be a good mix of old and new players in the squad for Saturday as Mere look to continue where they left off last season, on the front foot.

Their team was still to be confirmed at the time of going to press, but it is likely we will see Jamie Hardman, Dan Harrison and Luke Todd taking the team forward from the front.

Bertie Hodgson was the man making things tick last season so once again the expectation on his shoulders will be immense, but it's something he can more than handle.

Daelon Hernandez is staying at Windermere despite moving away from the area, which is a big fillip for the squad as the pacey full back will be looking to once again link with Joe Williams and Josh Wheatley in their pursuit of points.
