Haverigg secured promotion back to the Premier Division of the Cumbria Cricket League at the first time of asking after thrashing Cockermouth 2nd XI by 100 runs in a rain-affected match.

The weather forced the contest to be reduced to 35 overs per side, with Haverigg reduced to 50-5 after winning the toss and choosing to bat.

Glen Chesher then joined Jordan Postlethwaite and in an aggressive unbroken stand they took Haverigg to 158-5 by the close of their innings, with Postlethwaite unbeaten on 55 and Chesher also not out on 30, as Cockermouth's Matthew Hodgson took 4-47.

In reply, the hosts collapsed to 58 all out, with Liam Ford's 3-12 and Tomas Hawdon's 3-20 securing the Division One title for Haverigg.

Second-placed Furness 2nd XI got back to winning ways as Luke Shaw took a remarkable 6-6 in their eight-wicket victory against relegated Vickerstown, who were only able to field nine players.

Shaw ripped through Vickerstown's depleted line-up to leave them all out for only 38 before an unbeaten 27 off 20 balls from Joe Amison helped the hosts to the win in just 6.1 overs.

Hawcoat Park were 47-run winners over Kirkby via DLS, as they successfully defended 189 all out, which included 48 from James Grimshaw and 38 from Callum Lucas.

Rain led to Kirkby's target being adjusted to 181 from 44 overs, but they were 133 all out, of which Alastair Bradley made 68, as Hawcoat skipper Tom Stanwix took 3-19.

The weather was the winner of Ulverston's match against Lindal Moor 2nd XI at Priory Road, with the hosts struggling on 133-8, thanks to 4-35 from Max Winskill, by the time the rain set in at the end of the 45th over.

Elsewhere, Seascale comfortably defeated Workington 2nd XI by 71 runs.

Adam Brown held Seascale's innings together with a fantastic 94 as the visitors were all out for 127 before Steve Brown Jnr took 6-23 to rip through Workington's order, as they were skittled for just 56.
