The fourth season of the Barrow Individual Snooker League got underway this week with 21 players aiming to depose reigning champion Matty Hill.

The field, which has one more player than the previous campaign, will be playing off for a winners' prize of £700, up from the £500 that Hill earned from defeating Danny Macdonald, who organises the competition, in last season's final.

Other prizes will also be handed out for winning one of the groups and for reaching the quarter finals and semi-finals.

The 22 players have been split into two groups of 11, with the top four from both qualifying for the quarter finals.

The groups have been drawn as follows.

Group A

Matty Hill, Tony Mason, Tommy Barbour, John Tyreman, Jamie Thompson, Neil Rezamand, Anthony Atkinson, Jack Arnold, Moz Edmonds, Adam Cook, Matty Lamb.

Group B

Danny Macdonald, Dale Mclean, Tom Millington, Martin McDonald, John Purcell, Graeme Edwards, John Riley, Alan Eaton, Luke Mason, Brad Elliot, Chris Arnold.

Fixtures for the new season have been taking place this week and The Mail will be bringing the latest results and league standings during the campaign.
