Holker Old Boys made it back-to-back wins in the First Division North of the North West Counties League as they defeated Chadderton 2-1 in their first away game of the season last Saturday.

Tyler Wood put Holker ahead after only five minutes, but their lead was wiped out in the 34th minute by Chadderton’s Jack Turnbull.

The visitors restored their advantage three minutes into the second half through Brandon Collins and this time they held on as they claimed the three points.

The Division One season in the Furness Premier League kicked off last weekend and Furness Rovers made a good start with a 7-2 win against Croftlands Park reserves, Cam McEwen (3) Jack Roberts (2) Will Heywood and Dave Cook their marksmen.

Ulverston Rangers reserves also had a good win on opening day with a 6-2 thumping of the Soccer Bar, Kamil Bitner (3) Joel Lackey, Brad Robinson and Sean Darby their scorers. Bridge United started their campaign with a 5-1 win against Swarthmoor reserves, with Reece Craig (3) and Josh Greenwood (2) on target.

Millom A team beat a young Furness Cavaliers reserves 3-1. Mark O’Brien (2) and Stu Pattinson were on target for Millom, while Dave Beck replied for Cavs.

Hawcoat Park A also picked up three points as they beat Kirkby United reserves 2-1 thanks to goals from Sam Johnston and Ryan Muncaster. Cam Boyd replied for Kirkby.
