The awful weather last Saturday wreaked havoc with the cricket schedules, but it saved Barrow in the Northern Premier League as they struggled in the gloom at home to Kendal.
The rain forced a two-and-a-quarter hour delay to the start of proceedings, with the match in theory being reduced to 35 overs per side and Barrow being put in to bat after losing the toss.
The hosts struggled from the start with only 37 from Daryl Wearing providing any resistance after Barrow had initially collapsed to 17-4.
They had limped their way to 58-8 off 26 overs by the time the rain returned and forced the abandonment, with Chris Miller taking 3-12 for Kendal.
Incredibly, Egremont 2nd XI and Cleator 2nd XI managed a result in Division Two of the Cumbria Cricket League, with the hosts running out winners by 21 runs via the DLS method after Cleator couldn't chase their revised target of 148.
