Barrow were defeated by six wickets at home to Blackpool as they were knocked out of the Northern Premier League 40 Over Cup at the first round.

In a match reduced to 30 overs per side by rain at Ernest Pass, Barrow were put in to bat after losing the toss and struggled with the bat as their fragile line-up was bowled out for just 92 in the 27th over.

Patrick Allington top-scored from number eight as he finished unbeaten on 28, while Josh Boyne was the pick of the Blackpool bowlers as he took 3-20, while Matthew Grindley, Tomas King and Matthew Siddall all chipped in with two wickets.

Barrow’s bowlers chipped away as much as they could, with Allington completing what was a good all-round performance by claiming 2-12.

However, 26 not out from Blackpool wicketkeeper Craig Brown allowed the visitors to ease to their modest target with 8.4 overs to spare.
