Striker Scott Quigley has reiterated that he is pleased to be at a team like Barrow AFC who will not just lump the ball towards him and rely on his height.

Quigley, who is 6ft 3in, signed for the Bluebirds during the summer from Blackpool and will be keen to hit the ground running after a pre-season slightly hampered by injury.

The 26-year-old has seen fellow forwards Byron Harrison and Olly Dyson, who are similar in height, arrive recently but he is confident his teammates will stick to manager Ian Evatt’s principles.

Quigley said: “I am someone who prefers the ball to my feet. I’ve said this for the whole of my career - it’s called ‘football,’ not ‘headball.’

“The very best teams are all good with their feet and while I don’t mind sticking my head on it - it’s not that I don’t want to do it - it’s just that I like playing with my feet, that’s why I’ve come here.

“This is a good team and last year, maybe apart from Leyton Orient, Barrow were, in my opinion, the best footballing team I played and maybe they just missed a striker.”
