Just eight overs were possible due to last Saturday's wet weather, as Barrow's Northern Premier League clash against Longridge at Ernest Pass was rained off.

Barrow had been put in to bat in the tricky conditions by the visitors and they lost opener Justin Pringle for just three when his stumps were rearranged by Jonathan Millward.

Toby Mowat and Dineth Thimodya had begun to recover the hosts from that early blow when the rain set in for the day with Barrow 18-1.

After a day in which the fixture list was devastated, Barrow remain rooted to the bottom of the table, 19 points behind St Annes.

Barrow's 2nd XI managed to fit in more play against Haverigg 2nd XI in Division Two of the Cumbria Cricket League before it too was washed out.

The hosts made the visitors bat first after winning the toss and Thomas Crowther claimed the wickets of Matthew Adams (9) and Joseph Allington (10) to leave Barrow at 54-2 after 20 overs, which is when proceedings were halted.

Down the road, Millom 2nd XI were 35-2 at the end of the 15th over of their innings against promotion-chasing Egremont 2nd XI, who were deprived of the chance to close the gap on leaders Whitehaven 2nd XI.

The match between Ulverston 2nd XI and Cleator 2nd XI was abandoned after just 12 overs with the visitors 42-1 at the Ulverston Sports Club.
