Kirkby pulled off a remarkable 13-run win at home to promotion-chasing Haverigg in a very low-scoring contest in Division One of the Cumbria Cricket League last Saturday.

There looked to be only one winner when Kirkby were bowled out for 68 on what was a tricky wicket to bat on, with Matthew Bruce the only batsman to reach double figures with 33, as Tomas Hawdon took 5-41.

However, the pairing of Mark Etchells and Bruce tormented Haverigg's line-up, as the claimed 5-21 and 4-11, respectively, to skittle the visitors for 55 in reply.

Furness 2nd XI subsequently opened a six-point lead at the top as they thrashed Lindal Moor 2nd XI by 200 runs at Pennington Lane.

Wicketkeeper Joe Amison led the way with 89 from opener as Furness posted an imposing 264-9 from their 50 overs, and Lindal's chase never started as they were rolled out for 64, with Luke Shaw taking 4-22.

Captain Tom Stanwix and Callum Lucas both claimed five-wicket hauls as Hawcoat Park skittled Cockermouth 2nd XI for 56, with the visitors reaching their target unscathed in 8.5 overs, with David Muncaster unbeaten on 40.

Despite 54 from Samson Storey, Ulverston were bowled out for 164 against Workington 2nd XI, for whom Regan Jackson took 4-41 before Liam Hazzard guided them to their target with four wickets in hand by striking 65.

Vickerstown fell to a six-wicket defeat against Seascale, who bowled out the hosts for only 70, with Steve Brown taking 6-37, while Adam Brown's 45 guided the visitors to victory.

In Division Two, Millom 2nd XI fell to an agonising one-wicket defeat at Whitehaven 2nd XI, who just about managed to chase down the visitors' total of 134-9 despite Dec Tyson claiming a brilliant 5-20.

Ulverston 2nd XI weren't quite as close as they lost at Egremont 2nd XI by six wickets after 52 not out from Vickram Balakrishnan, while a lack of players forced Dalton 2nd XI to concede victory to Cleator 2nd XI.
