The latest national championship county fell race was held in the Yorkshire Dales earlier this month when four Black Combe Runners went to try and grab some more points to add to their English Championship tallies.

Nearly 300 participants descended on the venue and the Ilkley Harriers pair of Tom Adams and Jack Wood took the men's first and runners-up spots clocking 74:28 and 77:50, respectively. Ambleside AC's Matthew Elkington had to settle for third in 78:13.

The ladies race was won by Kelli Roberts (Helm Hill Runners) in 87:15, closely behind was Nichola Jackson (Ribble Valley Harriers) who completed it in 88:46 and just managed to beat Roberts' teammate Sharon Taylor by 14 seconds.

First back for the BCRs was Harry Scott, who recorded 94:22 while Alice Forster was ten minutes behind. Peter Tayler ran 1:4:.49 and Steve Wathall went on to record 2:03:43.

Phil Clayton was also in Yorkshire on the same day, but taking part in the Heptonstall festival fell race from Hebden Bridge. He got round in 69:39 in an event won by Neal Crampton (Pudsey & Bramley) in 51:35. Annabel Mason (Lancaster & Morecambe AC) won the ladies race at the same event with a 60:20.

The BCR club's next fell counter race is the Beetham Sports senior race, on Saturday, July 27 while the popular Lowther Show multi-terrain race is held on Sunday, August 11 near Penrith.
