Barrow AFC manager Ian Evatt will continue to run the rule over trialists Byron Harrison and David Fox after both impressed off the bench in Tuesday night’s 2-0 victory against Morecambe.

Harrison, who previously played for the Bluebirds between 2016 and 2018, has played in all four of AFC’s pre-season friendlies, as the striker looks to build up his fitness after being released by Barnet earlier in the summer.

Veteran midfielder Fox, who left Plymouth Argyle after their relegation from League One last season, was a steadying influence in the middle of the park against the Shrimps in what was his third outing of the summer.

Evatt has already stated he’s open to the prospect of bringing Harrison back for a second spell at Holker Street and he’s also not ruling out adding former Norwich man Fox to his midfield ranks, should it make financial sense to do so.

Evatt said: “Never say never. We like both players - they wouldn’t be with us otherwise.

“They’re not here to make the numbers up, they’re here because I rate them as footballers and they’re both fantastic characters and fantastic people as well, which is important to fit in our dressing room.

“We just have a look at it. It’s about managing finances and managing the budget, but they’ve both done themselves no harm.

“Things need to be right for us financially and we’ll look at these things over the next week or so.”
