Barrow schoolboy Luke Broadbent will make his international debut for England Youth tonight when he plays against France at Hull KR's Craven Park ground..

Broadbent will play on the wing and was presented with his shirt by former Great Britain forward Paul Sculthorpe.

The St Bernard's Catholic High School pupil is also set to sign a three-year contract with Warrington next week, which would have him follow in the footsteps of his father Gary, who also played against the French at St Helens in 1993.

Gary said after his son's call-up: “We are all delighted, its fantastic news and all the family are extremely proud of him.

"We were very proud that he made the final 22 from 60 youngsters and now to make the final 17 is a great achievement.

"Hopefully he will do a good job and retain his place for the second game at Wakefield on Saturday.

"For Luke to receive his shirt from Paul Sculthorpe was special with him being a former Warrington player. Luke has been at Warrington for some years and is set to sign professional.

"There is a good mix of players, including one from London and one from Newcastle in a talented squad.

"All the lads will be out to impress and the five left out will come into contention. Myself, his mum Emma and our daughter Sophie will travel over to Hull along with both sets of grandparents, so he will have family support.”
