Lindal Moor will be bringing echoes of the Cricket World Cup to Pennington Lane when they take on a team from Adelaide, Australia on the Sunday.

Former Lindal professional Muditha Maduwantha is bringing a team of under-15s from his MegaCourts Indoor Sports Academy to take on the Lindal juniors.

Lindal Moor chairman Paul Clarke believes it will be a tough test for the club, saying: “We don’t know what to expect to be honest but we expect it to be tough.

“They are coached by our former pro Madu, but also have coaching sessions from some top coaches such as former Australian internationals Peter Sleep and Andrew Zesers.

“[Performance head coach] Col Knight is preparing our team for the game and he’ll have them well drilled.

“Our juniors have been performing well this year in the junior and senior teams and we’ll be ready to give them a tough test. After the recent World Cup defeat we’ll be looking to regain some English pride.

“It will be great to see Madu again. He performed really well for us last time, scoring 777 runs and taking 37 wickets.

“He was always keen to help with the juniors and it’s great to see he’s carried that on.

“He’s really keen to see as many of his old team-mates as possible so hopefully we’ll see a lot of the players from the 2007 season coming to watch.”

The game will be a T20 starting at 1pm at Lindal Moor’s Pennington Lane ground and will be followed by a barbecue and reception for the visiting team. Entry for the match is free.
