Roy Moxham showed his class with an awesome display in the final of the King Alfred Singles competition against Danny Edmonds last Sunday.

The competition was once again a successful event with a quality entry of the area’s top bowlers.

The weather held as well, with the action taking place on a beautiful sunny day and on a perfect playing surface, the spectators were treated to some top class bowls.

The finalists on the day were two of the county’s best in Moxham and Edmonds.

Moxham's route to the final had wins over Dave McRoy, Joe McDonald, Tony Whitehouse and in a fantastic semi-final that he eventually won 21-18 Gareth Jones.

Edmonds defeated Paul Knott, Dave Whitehead, Emma Thornton, Ian France (senior) before seeing off Darren Woodend 21-15 in the semis.

The final began as a to and fro affair, with the score even at 8-8 after ten ends and 11-11 after 15 ends.

At this point Moxham took control, leading impeccably on a corner mark and scoring a single and three doubles to take the lead at 18-11.

Danny battled hard, varying length and line in an attempt to combat his opponent, but Moxham was in top form now and found a single and a double to run out champion at 21-16.
