Several of Barrow ABC's members have been in action in recent weeks, with junior Annika Saltima taking victory at Kendal Town Hall.

Barrow youngster Saltima only took her contest at short notice but boxed superbly to claim the decision, while clubmate Phil Cubin was also in action.

Cubin had only taken his bout at 24 hours' notice, but his lack of preparation certainly didn't show as he took the fight to his opponent in what was a rough-and-tumble contest, that he was unfortunately narrowly defeated in.

The theme of Barrow fighters taking fights not long before they actually took place continued as James Braithwaite only found out who he would be facing 24 hours before stepping into the ring during a show at Oldham.

In what was a hard-hitting contest between two big guys, Braithwaite was just unable to claim victory, despite landing some big shots during the three rounds.

Barrow ABC graduate Ross Cooksey were both in attendance to give his support and present tickets bought and donated by local businessman Joe Murphy.

Cooksey's fellow pro Mike McGoldrick was also there and signed posters for the youngsters who came along.

Both professional fighters from Barrow will be making their returns to the ring at Bolton Whites Hotel on Friday, July 5, with McGoldrick fighting for the first time since last November and Cooksey since last August.
