Captain Mike Fugler's five-wicket haul helped Kirkby to defeat Hawcoat Park by four wickets in what was an exciting clash in Division One of the Cumbria Cricket League last Saturday.

Visitors Hawcoat were bowled out for 136 after winning the toss and choosing to bat, with Fugler leading Kirkby's attack with a superb 5-30.

In reply, the hosts were in trouble at 56-5, but Fugler helped them to recover with 25 before Matthew Bruce (31*) and Michael Etchells (22*) helped their side over the line in the 37th over.

Haverigg breezed to a ten-wicket thrashing of Cockermouth 2nd XI after Tyler French took 4-11 to help his side bowl the hosts out for 81, a target the side chased down in 25 overs, thanks to 46 not out from James Parminter.

Leaders Furness 2nd XI were eight-wicket winners at Vickerstown, where Dylan Ridgway took 4-30 to help bowl the home team, for whom Joshua Francis top-scored with 37, out for 86.

Furness opening batsman,Tom Heywood put his side well on top with 41 off 43 deliveries, and with an unbeaten 36 from Joe Amison, the visitors raced to victory inside just 17 overs.

Skipper Ben Dryden struck an unbeaten half-century as Ulverston coasted to an eight-wicket victory against Lindal Moor 2nd XI at Pennington Lane.

The hosts were all out for 132, as Stuart Cooper claimed a tremendous 6-42, before opener Dryden finished on 60 not out to help Ulverston past their target with 20 overs to spare.

Elsewhere, Seascale posted a massive 355-5 before declaring after 41 overs against Workington 2nd XI, with Joe Hammond smashing a barely believable 186 off just 84 balls, including 11 fours and 19 sixes, before the visitors were bowled out for 130 in reply.
