Power boat racing returns once again to Windermere for its 93rd season on Saturday, which will be the first of three afternoons of lightning-paced competition hosted by Windermere Motor Boat Racing Club.

Boats of various classes race against one another using a handicap system. The other two dates that have been granted exemption from the speed limit on Windermere this year are July 6 and September 28.

Members of the public are invited to come along and watch this exciting event from the clubhouse at Broad Leys, which is situated along the Newby Bridge Road.

Racing will commence at noon and finish by 5pm. Refreshments will be available to purchase from the foreshore kitchen.

For those people with a love of architecture, the famous Arts & Crafts building designed by CFA Voysey will be open between 11am and 1pm for guided tours.

Parking is not available at the venue due to limited space. Viewing by boat away from the circuit is welcome and the race will be marshalled by patrol boats with blue flags and the LDNPA Ranger. Entry is free.

Transport from Bowness can be arranged by ringing the club on 015394 43284 and booking before the Monday of each event.
