North Warwickshire had too much for Cumbria’s women’s bowls team as they claimed victory by 53 points across the two legs.
The home leg was played at Levens Bowling Green and Cumbria had a good result winning seven of the 12 games and the match by 44 points .
The best result of the day was Anne Anderson, who won her game with a excellent score of 21-2 followed by up-and-coming Ellie Chandler (21-7), Violet Dennison 21-12 with Thelma McBratney and Christine Ainscough both on 21-13, while Gill Simm won 21-14 and Joyce Foxcroft 21-18. Audrey Silvester playing at number two had a very close game just losing 20- 21.
The away side travelled to Bedworth, where they were given a very challenging green to play on and only managed one win, which was Lorna Rigg, who won by the narrowest of margins, 21-20. North Warwickshire otherwise dominated to win by 97 points
