Barrow Ladies moved up to third in the Women's Championship after they comfortably defeated Huddersfield Giants 26-4 in what was their second league win of the season.

Following their recent 56-12 success away to Rochdale Hornets in the Challenge Cup, this was a good opportunity for Barrow to carry on their impressive start to the campaign on a fantastic Huddersfield pitch in the glorious sunshine.

Barrow kicked off and showed their intentions early on with some fine pressure defence which led to them gaining plenty of possession.

Jodie Litherland started to take control with some fine kicking and passing, she was supported well by Emily Stirzaker and Beth Lindsay and using the wide pitch passed the ball cleverly along the line to put Natalie Saunders in at the corner.

The visitors were on a roll now and pressurised Huddersfield in every department with great running from Kelly Friend, Lucy Dickenson and Sam Johnson.

This pressure told again as Barrow threw the ball wide again to score another fine try as Sam Norman crashed over, conversion again missed on this wide pitch, making the score 8-0 at half-time.

Huddersfield made the most of an untidy spell from Barrow early in the second half, as they fed the ball out wide for their impressive winger to score in the corner.

Barrow regrouped and finally got another try as excellent work from Jodie Crawford was rewarded by quick thinking from Lindsay who threaded a kick through for Emily Stirzaker to score.

Barrow were now in control of the game as they pushed forward again leading to the impressive Lindsay going over from acting half-back for a lovely try.

There was still time for Barrow to add a fifth try, as Robyn Halcrow and Crawford smashed through the line before the ball was thrown wide for Jess Alexander to round off the scoring.

Barrow have also drawn Warrington in the second round of the Challenge Cup.
